By Harry Maddison – Nor–Folk’s style contributor for menswear.
So it’s been a month since I first introduced myself to you. During this time, I have been putting together a few pieces to display the up and coming spring of 2015. I am very excited with what I’ve seen on the runways and what will soon be available in stores.
Spring is looking to bring us eccentric colour ways and patterns, brightening up what, through my eyes, was a very black winter – influencing how I dressed. When put together in the right way, wearing black is a very easy way to look smart and stylish. Black is never out of fashion, ever. It’s the telling style of New York and what doesn’t go with black? That is why many choose black as their go to.
I have created a Pinterest board specifically to compliment my contribution to the Nor–Folk blog, so please do take a look at the array of outfits I have selected for you.
The key styles I have pinned so far to cover spring are;
- White all over
- Floral and eccentric Patterns
- Double denim
I’ve highlighted these styles in particular, as they’ve caught my eye the most as of late. And some are new for me to try out – pinstripe in particular…
I recently bought two pinstripe suits from a charity shop not far from my house – each suit costing only £10. Luckily for me, my girlfriend is quite handy with a sewing machine, so the trousers will be taken in for a tapered look. I drifted apart from my ultra skinny jeans a while back and, I must say, I am very glad. I will be sharing the finished piece on my Instagram and Lookbook so stand by.
Fedoras are a must have, not only now during the fall, but spring in particular. I’ve been collecting these since the summer and I now own a few, in different colours. My favourite has to be the All Saints Bronson because the fit is great and it has the perfect roll I’ve been searching for – and it was only £30. My others were from H&M ladies department and Zara menswear.
Please go and check out my Lookbook for outfits I have been posting and, if you are unaware of the Lookbook website and app, I’d suggest you download it now and get posting. The app is basically an Instagram for full body outfits and a perfect place to see what others are wearing and to gain great inspiration for future outfits.
Remember – fashion can be bought but style is about self-expression.
Until next time,
