Hello! My name is Laura, I’m twenty-seven and I live in Norwich, Norfolk (UK) with my three-year-old darling son, Oscar.
I’m a registered nurse, full-time mother and self-confessed greedy person. We live in a little factory apartment and we like to eat.
For as long as I can remember I’ve been excited and inspired by good food. Some of my fondest memories can be attributed to a great meal; street food at sunset on Mombasa’s white sands or sharing my son’s first steak tartare on the banks of the Seine. A late night fridge-forage with friends on returning from the pub rarely fails to satisfy.
I love to cook for others. Friendships are formed over steaming bowls of soup, stories shared over hot coals and blackened fish. Fantastically imperfect, spontaneous and full of love. People gathered, cooking and eating together.
You can often find me wandering around farmer’s markets, fairs and food festivals sniffing and scoffing. There’s something quite special about getting from producer to plate in the space of a Saturday morning.
I believe great grub should be accessible to everybody on any budget. I get all hot and bothered about quality, local and seasonal produce. Simple food, shared.
As Nor-Folk’s food contributor I’m looking forward to bringing you an insight into what’s coming out of my kitchen and going into my mouth. I hope you’ll pull up a chair.
