With summer fast approaching I wanted to share with you 3 simple and easy ways I’m styling the silhouette of the season – culottes. Whether you’re attending a meeting or strolling round the city hopefully there is a look here you can take away with you.
I am dying to wear this combination but the British weather has other plans right now, this look is ideal for when the imminent warmer weather arrives. The devil is in the detail here; a cropped raw edge denim tank and matte black Birkenstocks elevate what is effectively a very basic pairing.
After weeks of experimenting I feel I’ve found a successful way to wear culottes at work. In this look I’ve paired a modestly cropped wide cut shirt with shorter style culottes (to avoid looking like a sack of potatoes). I’ve paired them with my favourite watch, cuff and go to minimal lace up oxfords, if you have the stamina (unlike myself) to wear them all day a pair of heels would look killer with this combination!
Without a doubt the most straight forward, comfortable and my favoured way to wear culottes, with trainers and a t-shirt. More often than not going back to basics can be the most effective styling solution. This combination works with more or less any t-shirt and trainers making it so accessible. Sticking to my monochrome roots, I love that I can throw this on without any thought yet with bags of confidence.
Despite my better half’s remarks, I haven’t looked back since adding culottes to my wardrobe (3 pairs and counting). For anyone unsure of this ‘man repelling silhouette’, I hope this post gives you the inspiration to try them out. You won’t regret it.
